Are these just coincidental examples? We do not think so! The only explanation is that the market "sees" your stop-loss orders. When you put in a stop-loss order, you create a certain demand (we might even call it a certain market sentiment). When thousands of traders ask their brokers to place stop-loss orders at a specific (identical or nearly identical) price, this creates a market sentiment. This makes it tempting for market makers to "move" to that point in order to satisfy that demand (i.e, pick off that cluster of orders). That is why we ask our customers not to place stop-loss orders. The market will not hesitate to take you out if there are enough stop-losses clustered near a specific price, especially when the market is currently trading not too far away from that point.
